I have always wanted to become a teacher or a lawyer. I feel blessed to
be able to do what I love. Teaching has caused me to challenge myself
academically and socially. Over the past eight years, my students have taught
me a great deal. It is my wish to continue to have a positive impact on the
lives of the future leaders of tomorrow.
My undergraduate experience was at John Jay College of Criminal Justice
in New York City. In 2000 after graduating with a BA in Forensic Psychology,
I was encouraged to consider a career in education instead of law. My
teaching career started in the New York City Public School System at
P.S. 335 in Brooklyn, NY. After relocating to Washington, DC in 2001, I
continued my teaching career at Charles R. Drew Elementary School, and Anita
J.Tuner Elementary School for the following six years. During that time, I
attained a Masters Degree in the Art of Teaching.
Joining the staff at Rosa L. Parks Elemenatary School in August of 2006
gave me an opportunity to develop my hidden talents. It has also allowed me
to share my strengths, build on my weakness and grow professionally.
I believe that all students can achieve their full potential. It is my
heart felt desire to motivate all students to become life long learners in a
constantly changing diverse society. It is my intention to provide a print
rich classroom environment that will encourage learning for all types of
learners. My goal is to have more than 50% of my class reading above grade
level in the 2009-2010 school year.
I will establish a partnership with the parents, other teachers and
community members and will focus on building the knowledge and
future of every child in my class.
