About Mrs. Rodriguez

This will be my third year at St. Bernadette teaching Third Grade. I had a
wonderful experience last year and will miss my 2007-2008 class very much. I
am looking forward to meeting a new group of students and begining to work on
creating a classroom community.

I came to St. Bernadette after two years of teaching at St. Augustine's in
Washington DC. I have a B.A. in English from St. Mary's College of Maryland
and am currently working on a Masters in Education & Leadership in Teaching
with the College of Notre Dame.

I grew up in Montgomery County, in Chevy Chase, and live in Silver Spring
with my husband. We live off of Sligo Creek and are often found on
the trail running or just enjoying nature. We love Silver Spring and are
truly excited to be a part of the St. Bernadette community.

When I am not teaching or working at the school, you can find me with my
nose in a book. I am an avid reader and writer. I love to read poetry,
philosophy, and fiction. Currently, I have been reading books by some of the
world's great peacemakers.

I also love art and all things creative. Photography and painting have always
been a joy of mine. Much of my inspiration comes from nature and the natural
world.

This summer and fall I will be staying busy training for my second Marine
Corps Marathon, which I am running with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's
Team in Training program.

My Hopes and Dreams for Our Class

My hope for our class that we create a responsive community where our gifts
are celebrated. While facilitating an exploration of the social justice
teachings of the Catholic Church, my hope is to instill the importance of look
at the world through peaceable eyes. My hope is that the students will
experience a sense of pride and excitement in their gifts and in the world
around them.
