I will celebrate 39 years of marriage this December. I have two children who
are teachers also. My son, Brian, was named a 2008 Teacher of the Year at
Our Lady of Mercy School where he works. My daughter, Megan, is an
outstanding teacher at Wheaton High School working with ESL students. Brian
is married to Lori, a teacher at Sandy Springs School,and they have a son and
daughter. Megan and Marty, her husband, had a beautiful baby boy on
9/11/10. Patrick Thomas Fischer came a month early but is now home and doing
well.
I am state certified in Special Education and Elementary Education. With the
exception of five years when I developed, owned and operated a retail store,
I have been a teacher of special students at St. Maurice School, and
students in regular schools including Lake Normandy Elementary, St. Peter
School and here at St. Jude. As of September 2010, I will begin my 28th year
of teaching.
The mission of this department is to be an advocate for any student that is
having consistent academic difficulties. I will provide accommodation
supports for the students and teachers and study strategies for the students
and their parents.
