Please emphasize to your child that homework must be written down in his or
her homework assignment pad. Using the internet web sites of the teachers is
only a back-up plan for a couple of good reasons:
* Without writing down the assignmennts and page #'s, students do not know
which books, binders, notebooks, or workbooks to take home.
* Teachers often times change what is posted on the internet according to
the pace of the class. Because many teachers have meetings after school
or give extra help after school, the posting does not get updated until
late afternoon.
If your child is struggling with homework consistently or is overwhelmed,
please speak to the teacher immediately so that a plan to ease the
situation can be discussed and employed.
Homework Improvement Program (HIP) is a time period at lunch when students
can either get a headstart on that night's homework with the aid of teachers
in the room or make up what should have been completed the night before if
for some reason work was not done. It is also a time to work on group
projects if students live far from eachother and cannot meet at home.
Students often times have access to computers as well. Furthermore, HIP is
used to study for upcoming tests or exams. Students are free to leave when
work is complete or students feel that they have a good jump on that night's
work.
