1st Grade Songs

 “Mother Willya”

"School Days"
School days, school days, dear old golden rule days,
Reading and writing and ‘rithmetic, taught to the tune of a hick’ry stick.
You were my queen in calico, I was your bashful, barefoot beau,
And you wrote on my slate, “I love you, Joe” when we were a couple of kids.

"Halloween"
I can’t wait till it’s Halloween! Oooo! Oooo!
I’ll dress up for the scary scene. Oooo! Boo!

"I Walk in Beauty"
He ne ya na he ya he ya na,
He ne ya na he ya hi yo he ya hi yo

"I’m Thankful"
I’m thankful for the daily food upon our table spread,
For meat and milk and fruit so good,
For work that brings us bread.

"Jingle Bells"
Jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way!
Oh what fun it is to ride in a one horse open sleigh!

"O Christmas Tree"
O Christmas tree, O Christmas tree, thy leaves are so unchanging.
O Christmas tree, O Christmas tree, thy leaves are so unchanging.
Not only green when summer’s here, but also when it’s cold and drear.
O Christmas tree, O Christmas tree, thy leaves are so unchanging.

"Let’s Play in the Snow"
Put on your coat and come with me. Let’s go out it’s snowing.
Put on your coat and come with me. Let’s play in the snow.

"Making Valentines"
One red valentine, two red valentines, three red valentines, four.
I’ll cut and cut and paste and paste and then make twenty more.

"America the Beautiful"
O beautiful for spacious skies, for amber waves of grain,
For purple mountain majesties above the fruited plain.
America, America, God shed his grace on thee,
And crown thy good with brotherhood from sea to shining sea.

"Let’s Go Fly A Kite"
Let’s go fly a kite up to the highest height!
Let’s go fly a kite and send it soaring
Up through the atmosphere, up where the air is clear.
Oh, let’s go fly a kite!

"M-O-T-H-E-R"
M – for the million things she gives me
O – only that she’s soft to hold
T – for the things she tries to teach me
H – for her heart of purest gold
E – for her eyes with love light shining
R – right and right she’ll always be
Put them all together they spell mother,
A word that means the world to me.

"Sing of Peace"
Sing of peace, the world needs peace.
Sing of peace, the world needs peace.
Neighbors all great and small, live in harmony.
Peace, peace, sing of peace.
