We have finished the history of the African continent and are now going to enter in to

self-directed studies of African countries.  Our focus in these units will be to help

students learn to access a variety of sources, as well as to complete an

investigation into a topic or issue regarding that country.

 

Students will need to have some access at home to the internet and will also need to

have access to books and other materials related to their topic from a library.

 

They have done a great job on their self-directed or teacher-directed syllabus.  We will

return to this method of study with our next unit in March.  I'm proud of the work that everyone has

done - we've had some creative projects, had some great discoveries during the various

webquests, and learned a little about African history along the way!  Now we are going

to extend that knowledge, and grow a little more as learners!
