<DIV align=center>We have finished the history of the African continent and are now going to enter in to </DIV>
<DIV align=center>self-directed studies of African countries.  Our focus in these units will be to help</DIV>
<DIV align=center>students learn to access a variety of sources, as well as to complete an</DIV>
<DIV align=center>investigation into a topic or issue regarding that country.</DIV>
<DIV align=center> </DIV>
<DIV align=center>Students will need to have some access at home to the internet and will also need to</DIV>
<DIV align=center>have access to books and other materials related to their topic from a library.</DIV>
<DIV align=center> </DIV>
<DIV align=center>They have done a great job on their self-directed or teacher-directed syllabus.  We will</DIV>
<DIV align=center>return to this method of study with our next unit in March.  I'm proud of the work that everyone has</DIV>
<DIV align=center>done - we've had some creative projects, had some great discoveries during the various</DIV>
<DIV align=center>webquests, and learned a little about African history along the way!  Now we are going</DIV>
<DIV align=center>to extend that knowledge, and grow a little more as learners!</DIV>
