Reading
For reading, we are finishing the Back to School review. We are going over the alphabet and making ABC
books. Once we have completed the alphabet review we will begin Theme 1: All Together Now. With
each story, we are beginning to learn how to use reading strategies while reading. At back to school
night, you will get a packet that shows you what we do in class with the comprehension strategies and
how you can help at home when using them.
Math
We have been making a number book to 20 and started Chapter 1 where we are working with making
numbers, learning readiness for addition and subtraction and patterns.
Science
We began the year reviewing the 5 senses. We have started Chapter 1, which is about living and
nonliving thing and have been watching bean seeds grow in gravel with some water discovering �Which
is a living thing?�
Student Intern
This year we are lucky to have Ms Geatz join us. She is a student at Bowie State University. This
semester she will be joining us on Tuesday and Thursday. Next semester she will start her student
teaching and will be here Monday-Friday.
