Mr. Cole's Class Page |
Word of the DayThe next Mr. Cole Spelling bee will be sometime in late April. Will there be any more Supreme Spellers? Can anyone else match the expertise of Zuha, Ethan, and Jessica? I double dog dare you to try.
What do you think? The next spelling bee for Mr. Cole's class? Why don't we do it on Friday, March 9. It is a good day for a spelling bee. (This was changed to Monday, March 12). We had our pod wide Bumble Bee spelling bee on Friday, January 27. Ten children from the third grade participated on stage, with a good sized adult audience. The pressure was on, and they came through it with flying colors. They were excellent, and we are so proud of them. All the children on stage got awards. The first and second place winners will be honored on Monday on the local (school) television station. The winners were Zuha (first place) and Ethan (second place). One day I hope to be able to spell as well as they do. I'm so proud of them. We had our first spelling bee on December 1. All the children participated, and the winners were Lane, Zuha, and Ethan (Ethan being the first place winner). In fact, Ethan didn't get one word incorrect. All the kids did an excellent job, and Mr. Cole is so proud of them. We will have our next spelling bee some time in January. We will continue to use the Words of the Day. The children just recently received dictionaries. So as a response to this wonderful gift from the Rotary Club, we have decided to have a Word of the Day. We will try to use each of these words at least five times during the day and perhaps even more. I have created a Word of the Day Quizlet. Please feel free to use it if you are in a wordy mood. So far, our words have included:
