On October 12 and 13 Mr. Cole's class will be celebrating 

Heritage Day.  The idea is for each child to bring in some 

information to share about their heritage. Where did their

great, great grandparents come from?  If they could bring

in an artifact to share, that would even be better.  The goal

is for the children to take pride in who they are, and to 

respect those who are different.  Mr. Cole will try to

find some Norwegian relics in his attic.  

 

I was thinking we could even put a sticker, on a world map,

on the country each of our families came from. 

We could also each draw a picture of a flag or symbol

that represents that heritage. We could then glue together

those squares, making a patchwork quilt of sorts.  

These are just ideas to show you what direction I am 

going with this. Let me know if you have any thoughts

or suggestions on the matter. Parents are free to come in

for the sharing. It will be at noon on both Monday and

Tuesday.
