Spelling ChoicesSpelling Choices
When your writing calendar says to choose a spelling activity from the list, pick one of these ideas and use your spelling words to complete it: 1. Write all of your words in ABC order. 2. Take a pretest, write any word you missed three times, and have a parent or guardian sign it. 3. Write sentences using 10 of your words. (It doesn’t matter how many sentences you write as long as they make sense.) 4. Write a story using 10 of your words and illustrate it. 5. Pick five of your spelling words and draw a picture or symbol to help you remember what they mean. Make sure you label your pictures and symbols with the spelling word. 6. Type your words on the computer, print them out, and glue them in your journal. 7. Use 10 words to create a comic strip. (You can use the comic strip sheet available on our website or create your own, then glue it into your journal.) 8. Write a riddle for 5 of your words. Make sure you include the answers! 9. Using 10 of your words, write a poem that rhymes and illustrate it. If you want to be really creative, try one of these ideas: 10. Go on a word hunt- find 10 of your spelling words in newspapers or magazines, cut them out, and glue them into your journal. 11. Create a word collage- create a collage of 10 of your spelling words using magazines, newspapers, paint, crayons, colored pencils, etc. * We are willing to accept other ideas. If you have a different idea, check with your teach first to get approval before doing it for homework. |
