Mr. Cole's Class Page |
Wiki PageThe Second Grade Wiki Page
It is a web page that all members can manipulate and add to. Wikipedia is just one example. How do I get access to the Wiki page? You need permission from one of the second grade teachers to even view it. Once you are a member, you may add to it as well as read it. So if you are interested, drop one of the teachers a note and let them know you are interested. What is the purpose of this Wiki? I would like to have many pen pals this year. I'd like to do a Flat Stanley like activity where we send Flat Stanley around to different schools and get them to write back to us. The schools that we write to will then have the option of becoming part of our Wiki. This activity could become as awesome learning project for the second graders. I'm very excited about it. Please share the url of the Wiki. Once you let me know you are interested, I'll send you an invitation and you will also have a link to that Wiki (as well as the password). If I join the Wiki, do I have to add to it. No. You can join and not do a thing. Joining just allows you to view the Wiki if you are interested. Has Mr. Cole FINALLY created a Wiki page for himself? Yes On November 3 when I should have been working on report cards, I was working a bit on the Wiki. (Procrastinating). (That could be a vocabulary word). I put a few pictures up and wrote some information about my life. When you are ready, please add to our Wiki. I think you can only access it if you are a member. And you can only be a member if we invite you. So ask for an invitation if you want to participate. I'll send you one and then you will be on your way to Wikidom. Hmmm....Wikidom Could that be a vocabulary word? No, it isn't even a word. What if parents need help on the mechanics of creating a Wiki page? I was thinking, it might be nice to have an in-service on day after school. It wouldn't take very long. But I could show you the Wiki basics. Would that be helpful to anyone? If so, let's talk about it at Back to School night, and we will set up a date. |
