Early in January we will have our second spelling bee.
Practice those words of the day. You could be the next grand

No spelling for the week of November 20. It is a two day week.
We are doing STEM presentations and conferences.
STEM stands for science, technology, engineering, and math.
It should be a great two days!
Beginning during the week of November 17, some of the groups will
begin having a second part to their spelling test. It will involve
placing some of the spelling words into sentences correctly.
Spelling for the Week of October 23
Note: I gave the kids two copies of their spelling list this week. One to cut
at school. One to use at home. That way, if they lose a word or the entire
bag of words, they will have something to fall back on. I am also strongly
encouraging the kids to write the words in their agenda book. It is helpful,
not only to the kids, but to Mr. Cole if we get confused on who has what words.
Monday: Sort words into categories and write down the various lists you make.
Tuesday: Pick a category and write five sentences using five of the spelling
words.
Wednesday: Option: Pick one of the following to do:
ABC order- all the words
Syllables- ten of the words
definitions- five of the words
a story- using five of the spelling words in the story
Thursday- The Test
Friday- No school
Spelling for Week of September 19:
Monday Night: Sort words into categories and write down those words on a
sheet to turn in.
Tuesday: Pick on category, and use five of the words in five different
sentences correctly.
Wednesday: Option Night (We will give you a few options to pick from. Pick one
choice for your homework).
The options include: (pick one)
A story using five of the spelling words.
ABC order with all the words.
Looking up and writing five of the word's definitions.
Thursday: Study for the test.
Friday: The Test
The children have baggies with their words in them. If time allows, I will
also post words, but definitely depend on those baggies. I have stapled the
baggies into their Take Home Folder.
I believe we will be beginning spelling the week of September 19. It is a new
spelling program that will be used school wide. (Vocabulary, math, and
reading should begin the week of September 12).
