Process

Follow the steps below to complete your project.

1. Think of five(5) places you would like to visit on your summer
vacation. You may use the internet to help explore some of these
destinations.

2. Complete the chart given to you to organize the data you find.
For each of your five(5) destinations, record the following
information on your chart. Remember, you and your guest will be
there for seven(7) days.

** YOU MUST SUBMIT AN EXTRA SHEET OF PAPER THAT NEATLY SHOWS THE WORK YOU DID TO COME UP WITH THESE NUMBERS. **

  • Total estimated price of the round-trip airline tickets for you and your guest.
  • Total estimated price of the lodging costs for you and your guest.
  • Total estimated price of food for you and your guest.
  • Total estimated travel time.
  • Three examples of recreational activities that you and your guest would like to do on this vacation.
  • Total estimated cost of your recreational activities.
  • Best dates to travel to that location. (These dates should match with the prices of the airline tickets because prices change on certain dates of the year).
3. Calculate the total price of your trip (airline tickets + lodging + food + recreational activities. Remember, these are only estimated figures, but you must calculate the final cost, you cannot just estimate it. 4. Carefully look at your data. Choose which destination you are going to visit on your summer vacation. Use the data to help you make your decision. 5. Write a one-page explanation of why you chose this destination. You must give data to help support your explanation. For example, your reason cannot simply be because you think the place is pretty or fun. 6. You now have to convince your parents to let you go on this vacation. Create a pamphlet about your destination. Be sure to include all of the information you discovered on this webquest. It may also be helpful to include other information about your destination that you feel is important. Remember, you want to convince your parents that this is a great place to visit and that they should let you go. 7. Your parents have decided to let you go on this trip. Now, you have to pack your bags. What will you pack? Explore the weather patterns of your destination. What is the average high and low temperature for the time of year that you are visiting. Complete this information on the same page as your chart from step 2. 8. Based on what you learned about the temperature of your destination, what are you going to pack? Remember you will be going on this trip for seven(7) days and seven(7) nights. Don't forget all of the other necessities (ex: toiletries, pajamas, clothes, etc..) If you forget anything, you will have to do without it! So, you better think about it carefully before you pack. On the same page as your chart, record what items you will be packing. Remember, you are only allowed one piece of luggage and one small carry-on bag on the airplane. Be sensible!

** DON'T FORGET TO TURN IN THE EXTRA SHEET OF PAPER THAT SHOWS ALL OF THE MATH WORK YOU DID TO COMPLETE THE CALCULATIONS! YOU WILL NOT RECEIVE FULL CREDIT WITHOUT THIS PAPER. PLEASE STAPLE IT TO THE CHART WORKSHEET. **

ENJOY YOUR SUMMER VACATION! SEE YOU IN THE FALL!
