Directions: Read pages 178-181 in your History Alive textbook and answer the
following questions in BCR format (minimum of 6 sentences/typed).
1.) How did slaves, free blacks, and women challenge their status in society?
2.) In what ways did individual women and African Americans demonstrate their
ability to “fight” for equal rights against “white, rich males with property”?
**Use the BCR rubric as a guide. Be certain to support your response with
details from the reading in the textbook**

Whiskey Rebellion and how it was resolved, Farewell Address, Washington’s
accomplishments, Federalists v. Democratic/Republicans, Hamilton and
Jefferson’s views on government, Republicans support for France?, Federalist
support for Great Britain?, and Hamilton and the bank. Chapter 11 quiz on
Thursday, Feb. 9th.

Opportunities: Go see the movie: Red Tails: An account of the Tuskegee Airmen,
an all-black World War II fighter pilot squad. The squadron, which was sent to
North Africa and Italy to escort white bomber pilots, consisted of some of the
best fighter pilots in the Air Corps.…questions will be posted by the end of
the week. Keep your ticket stub. Cold Winter Shelter @ Grace Community Church

Watch the State of the Union Address delivered by President Barack Obama on
1/24 at 9pm. Answer the following questions in paragraph format. 1.) What was
the overall tone of the speech? 2.) How did the audience react to the speech?
3.) What accomplishments were discussed under the Obama Administration? 4.)
What goals does the President have for 2012 and the future? 5.) Pick two
current event issues and discuss your opinion on how the President is handling
the issues. 6.) What was your overall impression of the Speech? . 7.) Locate
the Article and Section of the Constitution that requires the President to
