SCIENCE PROJECT 2012 SUGGESTED TIME LINE
This may be the first time many of you have worked on a project that
involved this many components over a several month time period. Although
many of us are practicing members of the “Procrastinators Club” and are
familiar with its pledge- “never do today what you can put off until
tomorrow!”, it might be a good idea to plan out how you are going to complete
your project. The following are some suggestions:
By This Date: What Should Be Completed:
1. 2/24 Project ideas chosen, submitted to teacher for
approval, parent signature.
2. 3/2 All project ideas approved.
3. 3/5-16 “Fine tune” problem question. Begin research to
form hypothesis.
4. 3/23 Research completed. Form Hypothesis about
problem question. Design experiment. Materials
list. Rough draft of written experimental procedure.
5. 4/10 Begin collecting data from experiment. Rough ideas for display
of project.
6. 4/23 By this date all data should have been collected. Trials have
been repeated if possible. Collected data is analyzed and put into
charts, graphs, or tables to look for patterns.
7. 4/23-5/4 Over this week you are putting together all the things you have
done over the last months. After examining your data you are
looking at results and drawing conclusions. Complete your
display.
