Looking ahead...on May 8, all eighth grade students will visit the high
schools that they are districted to attend. This day provides an opportunity
for students to mingle with their new freshman class, to meet high school
staff, hear about the high school process, and be introduced to
extra-curricular sports and clubs.

December 2011 -
Just before we all exit for Winter Break, teachers will be busy articulating
with Atholton High School, River Hill High School and Reservoir High School.
Why so soon? Teacher recommendations for high school classes are due to Lime
Kiln Student Services a few days after our return to school in 2012. During
the second week of January, students will see those recommendations when we
meet during our reading classes to learn about high school course selections,
four-year plans, and electives. Expect to see the schedule by the end of the
second week of January. If your son or daughter is recommended for a Math or
English Seminar course, please note that this is considered an elective.
These recommendations occur based on MSA testing results, quarterly assessment
scores, classroom grades and other testing. Please be aware that these
schedules are open for change. For example, when the IEP team meets in the
spring for students' transition meetings, we may decide that adding a Tutorial
class is in the student's best interest. Please contact Student Services or
me for answers to your questions.

September 2011 -
Welcome back to Lime Kiln for your final year of middle school. Our focus
this year is to get you ready to be successful in high school.

For parents, please be aware that this year, your son or daughter will have a
minimum of two meetings - their annual review and their transition to high
school meeting. Annual review dates are specific to the date the last one
occurred. Transition meetings are held at LKMS in the spring, at the
discretion of the high school representative.

Eighth grade teacher web page links are on my links page which will make it
easy for you to access everyone from one place.

If you have any questions, email is the best way to communicate. Let's have a
great year!
