Mrs. Bae was born and raised in Busan, South Korea until she moved to
Maryland when she was in high school. As a teenager she was faced with
difficulties of learning new language and culture, but enjoyed her new life in
America. Mrs. Bae met an unforgettable teacher, Mr. Donolley, who helped and
guided her to find her talent in art and inspired her to become a teacher. She
also met a good friend, Danny, whom she married 10 years later.
Mrs. Bae had a major in painting at MICA (Maryland Institute College of
Art) with a full scholarship. Although her major was painting, her ambition
and curiosity led her to study in various types of art such as ceramics,
sculptures, fiber art, screen printing, photography, and digital arts. She
earned her BFA (Bachelor in Fine Arts) and MAT (Master of Art Teaching)
Degrees at MICA. In the spring of 2006, Mrs. Bae won the honor of
being the Finalist for MAT program’s Special Awards in Art Education.
In her spare time, she likes to visit art galleries, enjoys outdoor
cooking with her husband, volunteers to help with her church events, and
supports her husband who is a lead singer in a Christian band on weekend. She
is a big fan of contemporary Christian musicians such as Chris Tomlin and
Lincoln Brewster.
Mrs. Bae currently teaches at Lime Kiln Middle School and had taught
elementary/middle school level GT art program at Howard County Public Schools
during the spring of 2009. Also, Mrs. Bae had taught at Smithsonian Museum’s
summer program in D.C, School Art 33, and MICA’s Young People’s studio program
in Baltimore.
