We Need Your Help! Mount View Is Going Green!
Check this site each week to see if there is a meeting.
No meeting Nov. 12th.
We will meet Nov. 19th after school!!
In December, we will meet DURING school.
11/11
Our first inspection had some glitches, but we still were able to inspect a lot of rooms. The results? Mixed! Only a few teachers received their Happy Earths, but remember that it will take a while to get old habits broken.
11/4
Teachers have received the trashcan contest information and should be telling their students about it. We need to get ready for our first inspection! Each club member will receive 3 or 4 classrooms to inspect. Be sure to stop by my room and pick up your list of rooms and your hall pass. Then wait until I tell you the day and time to conduct your inspections. We all have to inspect the rooms on the same day at the same time!
Thanks!
10/15
We prepared materials for our contest, designated a
member to update the website, and created a bulletin board in Mrs.
Mako's room. Please remember to check in on this page every Thursday that we don't have a meeting. New tasks will always be listed at the top of the page.
10/8
The first meeting of our club.
1. We brainstormed environmental issues at MVMS.
2. We learned about the Green School Certification Program.
3. We decided to start a competition among teachers to keep paper out of the trashcans.
Paper Isn't Trash!
goal: to stop students (and teachers) from throwing paper into the trashcan
steps:
- send an "invitation" to all teachers to join the competition
- conduct surprise inspections of trashcans
- teachers whose trashcans do not have recyclable paper will receive a "happy earth" print-out
- recognition for:
- teachers with the most "happy earths"
- teams of teachers with the most "happy earths"
- winners of secret "head to head" competitions between teachers
materials:
- the invitation
- "happy earth" print-outs
- "rewards" for competitions
