Welcome to Second Grade!
2/14- Happy Valentines Day!
This year on valentines day your child can wear red tag day clothes if they bring in a canned good item or contribute a dollar for the pantry.
2nd Grade Valentine's Day party is at 12:30. Reminder--- If your child is making valentines please make sure there is one for each child. Your child should sign it themselves and it isn't required for the students to address the cards, it is your choice. There are 19 children in the class, please email me if you have questions.
2/13- Reconciliation
First Reconciliation is at 10:00! Parents are welcome to come support their children during this special sacrament in the church. Fr.Pawel came to speak to the class on Thursday afternoon and all the children are excited for the big day!
Half Day tomorrow (2/10/12), Dismissal is at 12:15 for new student testing.
The children can complete their sentences over the course of two days( Wednesday and Thursday) All sentences will be checked on Friday.

Thank you parents for your help reading the children's fairytale drafts. The children were excited to bring home their drafts and re-read and edit their stories. The children were asked to read the stories out loud to their parents and see if they made sense and discuss where they may have had to make changes. Stories did not have to come in completly 100% error free. As discussed in class sometimes it is effective to read the story to a buddy and recieve a fresh opinion on the story.
Although this is a difficult assignment I believe the children are excited and proud of their work. If you have any questions about their writings or work thus far please feel free to contact me for more information on the topic. This is our biggest project this year and I'm excited to finish this unit exhibiting all of the student's orginal stories.

There is a change in the spelling homework schedule. The children's weekly spelling homework pattern is as follows:
Monday: Workbook page
Tuesday: Write each spelling word 5 times
Wednesday & Thursday: Complete 15 detailed sentences using the spelling words. The children have two days to complete the 15 spelling sentences.
Friday- Test Day The children have drafted their own fairy tale stories as a conclusion to our fairy tale unit. The children will have a opportunity to bring the drafts home to add more details, check for spelling and edit their paragraphs. Remember these are rough drafts that the children will be working on in class as well.
Reconciliation is Febuary 13th at 10:00!
October 4- Today we had school mass and blessing of the animals by Fr.Pavel, for the feast of St.Francis. It was great to see so many pets! Im so happy my second graders were able to meet Mr.Masciotti and Max Masciotti :)
10/28= Mrs.Masciotti is back! I understand it has been difficult for some students to keep up and keep work organized, I was out due to circumstances beyond my control. Thank you parents for your understanding...the second grade is working hard to organize and catch up on any missed work:)
Conference times/dates were sent home in the monday envelope. Please be aware of your date and time to review your child's report card.
1/23---Update on Reconciliation date
The date has been rescheduled to February 13th at 10:00
