NewsFlash NewsFlash Content: <DIV>Wednesday, Dec. 16 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------<BR> <BR> Students should remember to dress for the Christmas show tomorrow. Seventh graders are supposed to wear festive holiday wear (red, green, or white shirts) and jeans. Sweat pants are not allowed.<BR> <BR> Our Christmas Party is Friday afternoon. Students are welcome to bring in any treats they would like to share with the whole class. To avoid hurt feelings and exclusion, exchanging gifts or treats with only a select group of friends should not be done at school. Mrs. Gorres is coordinating the party. Please contact her if you would like to help.<BR> <BR> Any late or missing work that needs to be completed should be turned in by Friday. Students who have not made up work by Friday will have to complete their work during the Christmas party Friday afternoon.<BR> <BR> Christmas Break begins Friday at 2:45. There will be NO AFTERCARE. The faculty and staff leave the building shortly after carpool, so parents should be prompt in picking up their children. Don't let Sister Sharon begin her vacation by waiting for late parents to claim their children.<BR> <BR> Students may have told their parents yesterday that we had a seventh grader who was asked not to return to school. While I need to respect the student's privacy and cannot share specific details of the situation, I would like parents to know that the discipline problems did not involve any students being harmed or endangered in any way. Now is a good time to remind all parents, however, that they need to monitor their children's internet use. I have noticed that more than half the students in my class have Facebook accounts that they spend a great deal of time using, some have postings with inappropriate language, and some are not using their real last names. Parents are encouraged to regularly check their child's internet use by keeping computers in highly visible location, checking the browser history to see which web sites their children are going to, and/or using software that requires parents to enter a password before children can access certain websites. <BR> <BR> <BR> <BR> Friday, Dec. 4 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------<BR> <BR> Thank you to the Gorres, Acuna, and Murphy families for donating Book Fair books to our classroom. Thank you also to everyone who bought books for their children at the Book Fair; this helps raise funds for our school library.<BR> <BR> Congratulations to 7th grade for bringing in the most canned goods for the Pantry before Thanksgiving!<BR> <BR> Interim Reports will be sent home on Monday.
