Let me introduce myself - My name is Jeffrey Payson and I am the full-time Physical
Education / Health teacher at both Appleton Village School and Hope Elementary
School. This is my ninth year of teaching this subject, eighth at AVS/HES. I spent the first year
teaching in a K-8 Elementary School in Barton, VT.
I grew up in South Thomaston, ME, and attended SAD #5 schools in South Thomaston, Owl's Head,
and Rockland. I graduated from Rockland District High School in 1998, then I
attended Lyndon State College in Lyndonville, VT. I received my Bachelors of Science
Degree in Allied Health Sciences / Physical Education / Teacher Education in 2002. I
am certified to teach Physical Education and Health for grades K-12.
My mission for this class is for each of my students to realize the necessity for leading a
physically active and healthy lifestyle. The obesity rate in the state of Maine is
escalating every year, and I hope that my students will leave my classroom and be
able to make positive choices throughout their lives. I also want to show the students that activity can
be fun!
