About Me!

This is my 6th year teaching this class at Biddeford Middle School. I first
got a college degree in Communications (which means Newspaper Writing and
Radio). Then I decided I did not want to do any of that for a job! So, I
went back to college again! This time, I chose something I really love:
teaching.
I recently finished my Master's Degree (I went back to college a third time!)
in Literacy Education (a fancy way of saying I know more about teaching
reading now).

I have lived in Maine for about 9 years now, but I grew up in southern New
Jersey. I also lived in Boston for 2 years.

My favorite band: Green Day
My favorite food: Anything Mexican.
My favorite book: Tough one. I like long Russian novels, but my favorite
young adult book right now is Hunger Games.
My favorite movie: Another tough one. I like all kinds, gritty dramas to the
stupidest comedies.
Favorite TV Show: House (drama), but my guilty pleasure is Biggest Loser (I
love success stories where people overcome their weaknesses!)

My Mission

My mission is to make reading an enjoyable experience for students. I want
students to realize that reading doesn't have to be hard work. It just takes
matching the right student with the right book. I am focused on you and what
you want to accomplish. It's not about me or what I want you to read. I will
try to make it as enjoyable as possible, but you do need to be learning, so it
can't be a party every day, but I will do my best to make it the best
experience for you. The ultimate goal is for your reading skills to improve
and I believe that a big part of that is making sure you are enjoying the
reading as much as you can.
