7th Grade Social Studies

In Social studies we will focus on World Geography for most of the year, with
an emphasis on the five themes of geography and how they apply to different
world regions. These themes include location, place, human/environment
interaction, movement, and region. During the last part of the year we will
study Maine history and how our local and state government and economy work.

The skills and concepts learned in seventh grade will help students have a
context to understand how our earliest civilizations developed around the world.
Key social studies skills include critical thinking and problem solving,
learning to read and use maps accurately, summarizing informational text, and
writing reports and essays.
