I have been teaching for the past 15 years. Except for teaching high school
history for one year, I have always taught 7th and 8th grade language arts
and social studies. I received my bachelor of arts degree in history from
the University of California, Santa Cruz and then my teaching credential
from San Francisco State University. I received my Master of Literacy
Education degree from the University of New England. After college I started
my teaching career in the San Francisco Bay Area and helped to start middle
school programs at two different K-8 schools. This is my 7th year at Hope
Elementary School. I love teaching at our wonderful school! In addition to my
regular teaching responsibilities, I am our school's 8th grade advisor,
helping students raise money for their class trip, graduation, and to leave a
gift to the school. I also serve as the middle level team leader.
My wife, Dena, and I moved to Maine from California almost 7 years ago. We
love Maine! Our two year adventure has become our new home. Our 5 year old
son, Benjamin, the only true Mainer in the family, keeps us very busy, along
with our 19 month old, Noah. We love to spend time with our extended family,
as well as being outdoors as much as possible biking, hiking, swimming,
camping, canoeing, and of course, playing in the snow during the long Maine
winters.
