Quiz Wednesday will cover three packets from last week, "Governing a New
Nation," "The
Constitutional Convention," and "Debating the Constitution." Please see the
letter that went home
Thursday, 2/9/12 for specific topics. I will be after school Tuesday, instead
of Thursday, for any
student who wants help preparing for the quiz.

LANGUAGE ARTS - Mrs. Prewitt
Students should have their first book completed by this Friday. If not, they
will need to finish the
book and their first activity by the end of vacation.
Monday: Read. Study for vocabulary quiz on Thursday. Periods 4, 6, and 9
should finish, revise, and
edit their constructed response to Summer of My German Soldier if not
completed in class today.
Period 2 needs to complete the sentences in their prefix packet.
Tuesday: Read. Study for vocabulary quiz on Thursday. Period 2 needs to
complete the vocabulary
word cards in their prefix packet.
Wednesday: Read. Study for vocabulary quiz on Thursday.
Thursday: Read. Complete, revise, and edit constructed response for Summer of
My German Soldier.
Friday: Read and complete first independent reading activity if not already
turned in this week.

Tuesday: Dissection prep sheets, students will be dissecting flowers on Wednesday.
Wednesday: Finish any questions on your dissection sheet that you did not
finish in class.

LANGUAGE ARTS - Mrs. Prewitt
Students are required to read every night this term, but they do not need to
record their reading on a
weekly log. Instead, each student is required to read three pre-approved
novels for me and complete
a written activity on each. The due dates for these assignments are: activity
#1 - February 17th,
activity #2 - March 16th, and activity #3 - April 6th. Students may complete
these assignments
earlier if they prefer. Any student who is unable to meet the February 17th
deadline will have the
option of completing their reading and the written assignment during February
vacation without any
penalty.
Monday: Read.
Tuesday: Read.
Wednesday: Read. Classes 4, 6, and 9 must complete worksheet 4 in the prefix
packet - writing
sentences. Also, the graphic organizer for prompt 1 "Summer of My German
Soldier" should be
completed if it was not finished in class.
Thursday: Read. Classes 4, 6, and 9 must complete the "word cards" on the
prefix packet.
Friday: Read. Period 2 needs to complete "Cloze Call part 1" in their prefix
packet.

*As of Saturday, February 4 the Independence Tests are up to date. Students
may correct Parts I and
II to earn back credit. Corrections will be applied Monday afternoon.*

LANGUAGE ARTS - Mrs. Prewitt
Students are not required to fill out a weekly reading log during the third
school term. However,
nightly reading is still required. Students will need to read at least three
pre-approved books for me
this term; there will be a written activity to complete on each reviewing a
specific literary concept. I
will map out due dates with the students at the start of the new term. In the
interim, please
encourage nightly reading at home!
Monday: Read. Review comma rules for test. Make sure any late work is turned
in as soon as
possible as grades close Friday!
Tuesday: Read.
Wednesday: Read.
Thursday: Read.
Friday: Read. Period 2 - complete "Last Cover" constructed response #1 if not
finished in class.

Mrs. Callahan had her baby boy last Wednesday! Congratulations to her!
This week the students will be finishing up their Personal Narratives.
They have began reading Maniac Magee as well.
Monday - Finish up typing poem which coincides with Maniac Magee Ch. 17.

NOT include 18 point Essay Section, and are out of 82 total points. 100 point
scores (including
essay) will be entered by Monday evening. Students may correct sections 1 and

(roughly) half credit, and may do so for homework over the weekend.***

SOCIAL STUDIES - Mr. Rowe
Students will have the remainder of Monday's class to finish/polish third
round speeches (after
completing the First Continental Congress Quiz and we handle Pressure Actions
for the Second
Continental Congress). All speeches should be ready to go by the start of
Tuesday's class. The
Congress will most likely conclude Wednesday or Thursday, and a review sheet
for the Independence
Unit Test (tentatively scheduled for Wednesday, February 1) will go home Tuesday.
*REMINDER: For any student who scored lower than 75 on the Stamp Act Congress
Quiz, you may
earn up to a 75 by retaking the quiz TUESDAY DURING LITERACY BLOCK. The quiz
will cover the
same information, but in a different format*
