Marshwood Class of 2016 8th Grade Social “An Evening in Paris”
When: Friday, May 4th, 2012 Time: 7:00pm-10:00pm Where: The Regatta Room,
Eliot, ME Tickets: $20 per person
It has been a long standing tradition at Marshwood to end the 8th grade school
year with a semi-formal dance. We hope that all of the 8th grade students will
attend this memorable event with their friends. The students voted on “An
Evening in Paris” as their theme this year. This event is school sanctioned,
chaperoned, and all school attendance rules are strictly enforced to make this
a fun and safe event for everyone.
Please Remember: NO GOWNS OR TUXEDOS, NO LIMOS, AND NO FLOWERS. ONLY MARSHWOOD
STUDENTS MAY ATTEND THIS EVENT.
ALL Students must dress and dance appropriately. There will be a check-in and
check- out process for all students the night of the social. No-one will be
allowed to come and go during the event.
Signed permission slips will be required to purchase a ticket. Tickets must be
purchased in advance at school only, and students will need a ticket to attend
the social. Permission slips will go home in the near future. Look for signs
at school for ticket sale dates. The price of your ticket will include a Class
of 2016 commemorative gift, as well as an appetizer buffet, beverages, dessert
and dancing!

by April 13th. Please make the subject of your email ~ Child’s last name,
First name (i.e. Smith Robert). This album is not publicly accessible and all
pictures will be used only for the purpose of the slide show during the 8th

UPCOMING FUNDRAISING EVENTS
To raise extra funds needed to defray the costs for this event, we will be
hosting the following FUNdraisers:
*Pasta Dinner: Friday Night, April 6th at the Marshwood Middle School
(information will be sent home shortly about this very important event)
*Island Oasis Drinks: Friday, February 10th and Friday, March 30th during all
Lunch periods. Cost is $2
*Hat Day!!: Friday March 16: Students can wear their favorite hat during
school for $1

8th Grade Social Information.
The Social Committee would like to keep you updated on the 8th grade social
with as few emails as possible :)
Here are some upcoming dates and information: Social Date: Friday May 4th,
2012 from 7-10pm at the Regatta Banquet Center in Eliot Theme: One Night in
Paris
Ice Skate Night at Dover Ice Arena: Saturday January 21 from 7:30-9:20. This
is an all ages, fun for the whole family, public event. Cost is $10 each and
includes skate rental. Advanced ticket sales during lunch on Jan 19 and Jan
20. If you don't get the chance to purchase tickets in advance, please stop
by the Marshwood Table at the Arena and get your ticket through us so we can
get our portion of the ticket sales. Spread the word! We will also be having
a $0.50 baked goods table. See attached Flyer!
Island Oasis Smoothies during all lunches: Friday February 10 and Friday March 30
Hat Day: Friday March 16 Perfect time to break out those fun St.Patricks Day
hats! Students in the whole school are invited to wear their hat for $1
Spaghetti dinner: Friday April 4 at MMS. Spread the word! This is a
community event, and the largest fundraiser for the social. Last year was
sold out, so be sure to get your tickets in advance! We will keep you updated
as soon as pre-sale begins.
We are looking for help with the following:
At the Ice Skate Night, we will be having a $0.50 baked goods table. We are
looking for 7 volunteers to help with the table, and for baked goods to be
donated. If you can volunteer, or bring a baked good, please contact Diane

Spaghetti Dinner Raffle: At the Spaghetti Dinner, we are having raffles. If
you or someone you know would like to donate a product or service to our
raffles, please see the attached form. Arrangements can be made to have the

The next social planning meeting will be at the Regatta on Thursday Jan 26 at
6pm.
All money raised for the social that isn't used will be sent up with the class
to the high school for things such as the prom, etc.
