About The Teacher

I am looking forward to another great year in Global Studies. I am excited
about engaging all my students in learning about the world around them. I love
what I do, and I really enjoy teaching 7th graders. I live my subject- I love
to travel, read about current events and history and develop units that will
help my students be outstanding global citizens who are internationally minded
and who understand that they can make a difference in the world.

Academic honors or Recent courses taken:
Recently accepted into the International Baccalaureate Leaders Training 
Program(first Middle School teacher in the State of Maine)- Finished program
and received graduation certificate
Named to be a member of the 2003-04' Views of the East Institute at Bowdoin 
College-Seven all day and evening seminars on Korea, China and Japan. Each 
participant receives $200 worth of books on these countries for their 
classroom plus $300 worth of books for their school library. Sponsored by 
the Maine Humanities Council and the Maine World Affairs Council and the 5 
College Center for East Asian Studies in Amherst, MA. 

Named by the National Council for Economic Education to be one of 12 U.S. 
educators involved in the Training of Writers program in Bucharest, Romania 
in Sept. 2003.  Participants will be required to develop an economics lesson 
plan that uses an interactive approach. The 12 American educators will work 
jointly with teachers from 9 different Eastern European countries.

February, 2006- Received certification as Mentor for teachers in the State of
Maine
July, 2006- Trained in International Baccalaureate(MYP) -Humanties- Level 1
July, 2007-Trained as an IBMYP coordinator- Level 1
September, 2007- Named to the executive board of Global Children United

To help students become geographically literate
