1.	REVIEW - Review your book. Be sure to mention the title, author, main character, brief summary,
and reaction.  Include at least 2 quotations that will enliven the review.  End with advice about
reading this book (PROCESS OF READING A-7 – Summarize whole texts by selecting and summarizing

2.	 NEW KNOWLEDGE – In a well thought out essay response of at least 5 sentences explain what you
learned from reading this nonfiction book. How could this knowledge be used?  What person, issue, or
event in this book could you investigation deeper?  (INFORMATION TEXTS D6 – Describe new knowledge
presented in information texts and how it can be used. DOES NOT MEET STANDARDS/PARTIALLY MEETS/MEETS
STANDARDS/EXCEEDS)



3.	MOTIVES OF CHARACTERS -  Analyze the dominant (most outstanding) character traits of the main
character.”  Think of a trait – place it on the line provided.  Find an example or quotation from
the book that verifies the trait- be specific.  Place this information in the space provided. Then
think about what makes this character “tick” and how his/her motives compare to yours. (LIT &

*	Commemorate your subject with a postage stamp.
*	Demonstrate milestones of your subject’s life with an annotated timeline.
*	Honor your subject with a monument (building/sculpture).
*	Celebrate this person’s accomplishments with a poster or a Power Point presentation.
*	Reveal personal information about this person with a scrapbook.
*	Make your person come alive with a dramatization (scene from the book, a talk show, a book
signing, etc.)
