Who am I?

Hello and welcome to my web page. As I update this site for the start of
another school year, I can't help but marvel at how quickly the years have
flown by and how much my life has changed in the course of my 12 years at The
Middle School of the Kennebunks.
I started my teaching career at Kennebunk as an intern in 1995, was hired
immediately after my program ended and have taught there ever since. I love my
job, my school and I love teaching language arts. I also love
to read, cook, and anything that has to do with being outdoors. I have a
Bachelor of Arts Degree in English and returned to USM's Extended Teacher
Education Program in 1995 to attain my Masters in Elementary Education. I am
also certified to teach Secondary English. Prior to becoming a teacher, I was
employed in various business capacities; I worked in the art department at
Carroll Reed and was a recruiter for Manpower Technical. I was also employed
for a number of years (right out of college) at The Maine Youth Center. I was
married last June, and my husband and I spent 16 days touring Peru and hiking
the Inca Trail in the Andes. As you can imagine it was an pretty incredible
experience, and I will be sharing some of our adventures with a slide show and
art activity in early Fall. I also moved to Cumberland, ME last year. It's a
bit of a commute to the middle school but worth it to me to continue working
at the school I love and with the people I have come to view as family. I
have had a pretty busy, albeit enjoyable, summer and attended IB training in
Austin, TX in August (HOT). I’m looking forward to the start of the 2007/08
school year and all the adventures it will bring! See you there!

Mission For The Class

I want all my students to feel cared about, happy, and competent and
successful in their work. My goal is to help my students become independent
learners and successful, fulfilled individuals who are curious, motivated and
care about the world around them.
