Why is my child's grade lower than expected?

Many 9th and 10th graders have not embraced the habit of STUDYING! We are a
college-prep school which requires students to study weekly vocabulary and
be prepared for pop-quizzes. Also, many students entering CMA are not
setting aside the time required for completing homework in all classes.

Why can my child not make up homework without an excused absence?

CMA defines an excused absence as one with documentation from a physician,
court official, or an absence in regards to a funeral. These are the only
excuses that will be accepted from a higher institution
(college/university)which we are assuming is the ultimate goal for our CMA
students. As we all know, there will be times that a student
does not need to visit a physician and is merely sick with a cold, asthma,
etc. Therefore, there are many opportunities at CMA for extra credit in
order to make up the work for any particular absence. All students are
advised to take advantage of these opportunities in case of future absences
that may be unexcused!

Can my child get extra help in order to raise their grade?

Tutoring is offered at CMA Monday through Friday except in special occasions
such as staff meetings and early dismissals. Students are encouraged to seek
out teachers in any subject area where they feel they require extra
instruction.
