These are the procedures that help our classroom run smoothly. Having these
in place helps to create an environment that is comfortable and inviting;
where students are aware of what is expected of them and are able to learn
in an atmosphere with the least amount of distractions.
Bathroom
•Avoid using the bathroom during teaching time.
•Ask for the pass. Put it on your desk.
•Act appropriately in the bathroom.
•Wash your hands and return pass when you are finished.
Pencils
If you need to sharpen your pencil…
DO NOT SHARPEN YOUR PENCIL DURING WORK TIME OR TEACHING TIME!
•Put it in the “sharpen please” bin.
•Take a pencil out of the “sharpened” bin.
•When you see that your pencil has been sharpened, get it and return
the borrowed pencil.
Arrival
•Hang up coats and book bags neatly.
•Change into inside shoes.
•Make a lunch choice.
•Fill out planner.
•Begin your morning activity.
Papers
•Name, number, and date on EVERY paper!
•Follow verbal and written directions.
•Hand in paper to the appropriate basket.
Line up
•Line leader is always first.
•When you are called, find the next available space in line.
•Hands to yourself
•Make sure no one is standing next to you.
•Face forward and travel QUIETLY!
Library
•Ask permission.
•Put the pass on your desk.
•Bring the Library pass with you.
•5 minutes in the library!
Attention
•Look and listen for the symbol!
•Immediately stop and look at the teacher.
•Actively listen for further directions.
Teaching Time
•Active Listening
•Raise your hand when it’s appropriate.
•Stay put!
Audience
•Actively listen to the speaker.
•Remain in your seat.
•Save your questions for when the speaker is done.
•Show your appreciation appropriately.
Teamwork (Circletime)
•Active Listening
•No put downs.
•Share your ideas
•Be an active member.
•Compromise
End of Day
•Clean your desk and floor area.
•Make sure you are clear on your homework… check off planners!
•Stack your chairs.
•Wait to be called for line-up.
