About The Teacher

MRS. JACKSON: This will be my second year teaching first grade at Central
Grade and I am looking forward to another great year. Prior to teaching
first grade, I taught Kindergarten for 3 years here at Cental and have
taught several other grades throughout TCAPS. Recently, I graduated from CMU
with a Masters Degree in Teaching Literacy and Reading. Teaching reading is
one of the many reasons why I love teaching first grade. My husband Chris and
I have two daughters. Sophie is five and getting ready to start Kindergarten
this fall and the Phoebe is 5 months old and learning to roll over
and sit up. As a family we enjoy traveling, boating, spending time with
friends and family, and playing with our Golden Retriever "Jackson". I
personally enjoy working with children, scrapbooking and reading! I look
forward to getting to know you and working together with you to help your
child have a successful year in first grade. We will work hard, learn a lot,
but most of all have a ton of fun!!!

MRS.CORNWELL: I have been teaching for over 30 in the Traverse City Area
Public Schools. I taught 19 years in special education. I also serve as the
first grade math facilitator for the district. I love teaching first grade
because I love teaching the students different strategies for learning to
read and for solving math problems. Bob and I are the proud parents of 3
wonderful children. Mollie lives in Durham, North Carolina and is currently
teaching first grade at a year-round school. Myles just graduated from
Carnegie Mellon in Pittsburgh and is leaving in September for graduate
school in Southhampton, England. Betsy just left for Bozeman, Montana and is
a freshman at Montana State University. With emptynest-syndrom, Bob and I
just got a new Cocker Spaniel puppy, named Cricket.

School Family Promise

When we care about each other and our classroom, we share what we have,
listen carefully, help each other learn, work hard and have fun together! We
understand that everyone makes mistakes that we stand up for ourselves and
each other and when someone asks us to stop, we stop! This is who we are even
when no one is watching!
