Charlevoix High School artists are participating in Articipate, a community art event in Petoskey. Each of these students has an art piece hanging in buisinesses in downtown Petoskey. The event culiminate on June 1st with a $500 grand prize award, wish them luck.

Boys' and girls' CROSS COUNTRY meeting TODAY @ lunch in the gym. Be there!

Girls tennis will meet after school TODAY rom 3:10-3:45. Please bring all uniform and warmups to hand in.

Babysitter needed for the summer for a 2 year old.  Wednesday, Friday and Saturday from 10 to 5, must have own transportation.  If interested call Kristi Brewer at 231-373-8431.

Sports Physicals for Student/Athletes for the 2012-2013 school year will be held on June 12 from 6:00 to 7:30pm at the High School.  Please pick-up physical forms in middle school or high school office for parents to fill out and return on day of physical with $10.00 for the cost of the physical.

Any girls interested in sideline or competitive cheer, please sign up on the sheet in the front office.  

Students: ALL files saved in your user space will be DELETED this summer. If you will need any of these files in the future, you should save them to a USB flash drive, upload them to Google Docs or email them to yourself before the last day of school.

The Charlevoix Photography Club, along with the Circle of Arts, is sponsoring a photography contest and show.   Special youth category for students under 18 and offering cash prizes!  This year's theme is Michigan's seasons. The event starts Aug. 31st and submissions will be shown for a month at the Circle of the Arts building.  Contact Kris Balasz or head to the Charlevoix Photography Club website for more information. 

Attention Art students: Pick up your work by the front office today and tomorrow.  Anything not picked up will be donated to the Rainbow Shop. Thanks!

Attention students interested in the Charlevoix Junior Golf Program --- we have this year's brochure available in the office.  Registration is June 9th at the municiple course.  The brochure has all the information you need including the schedule, scholarships and instructions for the free pass for golfing this summer at the municiple course.

Boater's Safety classes are starting soon!  These are free classes that run June 2 (9am-1pm), June 23 (9am--1pm), June 26 (2pm-6pm) and July 9 (2pm-6pm).   See the bulletin board downstairs for locations on trhese classes, or for further information, call the Charlevoix County Sheriff's Office Marine Division @ 547-4461, ext. 320.

If you are a Freshman, Sophomore, or Junior athlete who is interested in improving your vertical jump, speed, agility, coordination and strength over the summer, then you should stop by the main office and pick up an application for PEAK Performance. Peak will be held at the high school at 8am-9:30am on Tuesdays and Thurdays. The first day will be June 12th and will end July 26th. The cost is $75.00 for six weeks, which includes a t-shirt. If you have any questions please stop and see Erika in the training room.


Sophomores interested in improving their test taking abilities sign-up for the PSAT in the counseling office by May 31.  Cost is $14.00 and due at this time. This test will be given on Wednesday, October 17th. This is a great chance to begin preparing for the MME.

MSU Media Summer Camps are hosting sessions on game design, music recording, television production, and digital cinema.  Information in the counseling office.

OLDER BUSINESS

Future drivers: Don't forget that DYNAMIC DRIVING SCHOOL -- a new local provider -- is offering a Segment 1 class JUNE 4--JUNE 19, weekdays from 8:00 -10:00 a.m. at CHS for a flat rate of $250 --- AND a Segment 2 class JUNE 4--JUNE 6 from 10:00a.m.--12:00p.m. for $30.   Information & contracts are available in the office and Ms. Tabaczka's room, or contact Mr. Barnum at (269) 213-9552 w/ questions.  Thanks!

The Young Americans are coming to the Charlevoix High School Auditorium to perform a concert on Sunday, June 17 at 7:00 p.m.  They would like high school students from our school to perform with them during one of their songs.  If you are interested, you would have to come early that day to learn the music. See Mrs. Thompson for more information.  If you are able to participate, please give Mrs. Thompson your T-shirt size, so it can be ordered prior to the performance. 


Digital Destruction Gaming Center is now open.  Digital Destruction is owned and operated by Jason Niswander former CHS student.  We have state of the art computers with a great atmosphere for the best gaming experience with your friends.  We have hourly rates, block rates, etc.  Bring your friends, come down and take a look.   Located at 103 W. Hurlbut, Charlevoix.  Hours - Tues.-Sun - 11:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.     Closed Mondays.

The Charlevoix Community Skatepark is OPEN.  Hours of operation for May will be Saturdays 12-6, depending on weather.  Regular seasonal hours will begin in June 2. Closed on Mondays.  Scholarships available.  For information , please call 231-675-4505 or visit the City of Charlevoix's website.


Courtesy Driving will be holding a Segment 1 Driver's Ed class June 4-June 21, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 9-11 a.m.  Segment 2 is June 4,5, and 7 from 11 a.m.--1 p.m. Contact 1-800-256-9559 for more info.

Any sophomore or junior who is interested in attending the 2013 Presidential Inauguration in Washington, D.C. please sign up with Mrs. Baier in the counseling office.  Thanks!

Charlevoix Sea Scouts are looking for boys and girls between the ages of 14-21 who are interested in becoming members of Ship 11.  Sea Scouting is organized to promote citizenship and boating skills through instruction and practice.  Ship 11 has its own sailboat for training and practice.  For more information: Contact Skipper Scott Stebe, 231-675-5806 or at ghettomutt@gmail.com.
