Is there a weekly spelling list that my child should be studying?
Yes and no. Our spelling progam does not have a weekly spelling list that comes home on Monday with a final spelling test on Friday. The program has a list of core words that your child will learn based on studying common spelling patterns and rules. However, I do send home a list every Friday attached to your child's Word Test and Sentence Dictation. This is called the Words to Learn list. These are the words that your child spelled incorrectly or omitted. You should practice these words on a consistent basis at home because they will be retested on the Word Tests and Sentence Dictations over the course of the year. Additionally, if your child has mastered all of the core spelling words that are tested on a weekly basis, I will provide your child with a list of challenge spelling words. These will be written on his/her Words to Learn list and will be tested on Thursdays in a traditional spelling test format. Back to Top
