Reading 10-13 - 10-17: We will continue our novel study of "The Kid Who
Ran for President."
Students have a packet of worksheets and
a schedule for reading. The reading and worksheets
will be completed in class. We will continue to have
spelling words each week with a test on Friday. In
addition, there will be a quiz on each section of
reading as it is completed. The third quiz will be on
Monday, October 20.
Students should continue to work on their President
poster and AR reading.
General:
A parent should sign the student planner each night. I will be checking for
this. Parents may also write notes to me here. Bus notes should be
separate because they need to go to the office.
Reading:
When we are reading a story from the Open Court book, there will be a
comprehension test (open book) and a Vocabulary/Spelling test every Friday.
We will also be reading books for Accelerated Reader. Each student will
have a marking period points goal. Meeting this goal will be part of the
reading grade. These results and goals can be found in the inside front
cover of your child's agenda.
Except for AR reading and studying for vocabulary/spelling tests, the only
reading homework will usually be work not completed in class. Most students
will have time to finish all work in the class period.
Math:
MEAP review and practice will be ongoing for the first 3 weeks of school.
We will also review geometry and measurement.
We have completed Chapter 1 and are beginning Chapter 2 (Addition and
Subtraction).
***Late Homework Policy: Homework turned in one day late will receive an
automatic 20% reduction in the grade. Homework turned in more than one day
late will receive a 0%. Please make sure your child is putting homework in
the binder and coming to school with it each day.
