Does my child switch classes in 5th grade?

Yes. Mrs. Thoms teaches math, Mrs. Chojnowski teaches science
and I teach social
studies. I also teach reading, writing, and spelling to students
in my homeroom.

What is the best way to contact the teacher?

I may be contacted through email or phone. Email tends to be
quicker, but
either way is fine. You may also write me a note in your child's
assignment
book since they are checked every day. My email address is
foxk@huron.k12.mi.us and my extension at school is 423.

Do I need to sign my child's assignment book every day?

YES!!! The assignment book will keep you updated on what work
the students
are doing. I also use the assignment book as a communication
tool, so often I
will write notes in it. Missing Assignment notices are also
stapled in the
assignment book on a daily basis.

How does 5th grade prepare my child for the junior high?

Part of our responsibility as 5th grade teachers is to prepare
your child for
the transition from elementary school to junior high. We do that
by stepping
up our expectations in responsibility, organization, time
management, and
student accountability. All of these skills are necessary for a
smooth
transition to junior high.

When will my child bring home graded papers?

Graded papers come home every Friday. There is no Friday Folder
in 5th grade,
just expect completed work (class work and homework) to come home
Friday.
