Announcements

December 21,
It would seem such a little thing - updating this announcement page. In
the hectic pace of our classroom, it is one thing that gets put off too
often. But for all of my students and families, I wish you a blessed and
wonderful Christmas, a happy New Year, and a RELAXING 2-week break!

November 28,
I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving break! A chance to get
together with friends and family and give thanks for all of our blessings.
And now we are at the end of the first trimester! This trimester ends as of
Thursday, December 1, which is a half day of school for students. Friday has
no school for students and is records day for teachers.
Thursday is also the day the permission slips and payment are due for the
music field trip coming up. Please be sure to complete those papers and send
everything in by Thursday. Thanks!

November 3,
What a busy fall so far! MEAP testing, Halloween activities, and now
Parent-Teacher Conferences. We certainly are full-swing into the school year
now. It has been a pleasure meeting with so many of you at conferences. I
hope all of your questions have been answered and you feel as good about this
year as I do!
Please remember to vote next Tuesday, November 8. The millage renewal is
so important!

October 11,
The MEAP starts today! During the MEAP testing, our normal schedule pretty
much goes out the window. Of course, the MEAP tests trump our usual work.
But after expecting the students to work hard on the MEAP, we try to ease off
during the rest of the testing days. So don't be too surprised if you look
at the planner over the next two weeks and it seems like we aren't doing a
lot of work. We try to do more as activities, to balance out the deskwork
required for the MEAP.
I have been reminding the students that the due date for the first book
report, the travel brochure, is coming up soon! The due date is October 20.
By now, your student should either be done reading, or close to done, so work
can be started on the brochure. The sample is available in the classroom if
you have any questions.

 September 30,
This will be quite a busy weekend! Huron Homecoming game tonight and then
Applefest on Saturday and Sunday. While I can't make the game tonight, I do
plan on being at Applefest tomorrow. Maybe I'll see some of you!
Please remember to send in all fundraiser orders and payment on Monday. We
have to turn the orders in to the company rather quickly, so not being late
in turning in your child's order would be very helpful.
The Scholastic book order forms did go home last week. Any book orders
need to be sent in by Wednesday. Thanks.
Information on the MEAP testing will be sent home soon. We have that
coming up in just a few weeks.

Sept. 12
As I told the students last week, when we all first come into this world we
depend upon our parents to take care of us. Later on in life, often the
situation is reversed. Today is one of those days when I must be daughter
more than teacher. I hate to be out of the classroom so soon in the school
year as we are still learning procedures. But Mrs. Riopelle is my sub and she
has filled in for me many times, including a long-term assignment a few years
ago. Any confusion, any problems .... all will be worked out when I am back
in the classroom tomorrow.
Thank you to all who have sent in Friday Folders already. They will be sent
home starting this Friday. You will see a sheet of paper stapled in the right
hand side of the folder. There is a place for parents to sign each week,
indicating that you have seen the work sent home. Important information or
test papers will be highlighted, so you will know to look specifically for
those papers. Please be sure to sign the folder, remove all papers, and send
it back to school the following Monday. Thanks!

Sept. 1, 2011
A very big WELCOME to all the incoming fourth graders! It was a pleasure
meeting so many students and parents last night at Open House. All the fourth
grade teachers are looking forward to a great school year. Enjoy the Labor
Day weekend and I will see you on Tuesday!
