Homework

5/23/11-Favorite Number Home Math Project-This is due on Friday, June 3.  A hot pink instruction note went home today.  Please, if you need poster board for your child to complete the assignment let me know this week.

*Reading book bags should be coming home Monday through Thursday.  Please have your child read to you, sign and return in the book bag the next school day.

Homework Routine

Second grade is an important year in your child’s academic career.  Now is the time to set up important routines and expectations especially when it comes to homework.  Below are some helpful tips that will help you and your child establish a homework  routine.

★    Find a quiet, comfortable  place to work.

★    Establish a consistent time to do homework.

★    Be involved!  Check your child’s Home/School folder every day.  Examine the assignment, review schoolwork that has been sent home, and talk with your child about his or her day.  Most homework assignments at this stage will require your assistance and involvement.

Reading at Home
Please read with your child every night.  Children who are read to at home have larger vocabularies, understand story structure and know that reading is valued.  In October your child will start our book-in-a bag homework program.  With this program your child will be taking home a just-right book to read to you.
