My name is Betsy Naasko. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Early Elementary
Education and am working toward my Masters in Reading. I have 10 years
teaching experience in grades preschool through 4th grade. This will be my
third year teaching second grade. I take my career in education very
seriously and love teaching young children. I have two children of my own.
Cailyn is 4 and Jacob is 16 months. I live in Grand Rapids with my husband Dave,
our children and our dog Buster.
My philosophy of education is based on the belief that every child has
individual needs that can best be met through a program that is meaningful and
relevant to the student and through an approach which is truly child centered.
As a teacher I have a deep commitment to the education and development of
children and believe in the ability of each child to learn. The early
educational years are of the utmost importance to young children. Only by
working with children in a positive, caring environment can I make a
significant contribution to producing productive and capable citizens of the
world. I believe students best acquire their skills, knowledge,and
understanding through an activity based learning program where they are active
participants in their own learning. I also know I cannot do this alone.
Teachers, students, parents and the wider community must work together for the
benefit of all children.
