A NOTE FROM THE TEACHER
With this being the last week before the break, I want to wish EVERYONE a wonderful break with their families. We will have a fun-filled winter party on Friday afternoon.... thanks again to our Room Mom Extraordinaires, Katie and Carli!!
VACATION READING LOG
Students will be given a Winter Break Reading Log to complete over the vacation. I hope that they will find some time to read over the two weeks away from school. There will be prizes again for the three readers with the most minutes logged.
It's Spirit Week at Logan!!! Here are the themes for each day:
Monday: Mix-Match Day
Tuesday: Favorite Sports Team
Wednesday: Crazy Hair Day
Thursday: Character Day
Friday: Pajama Day
PARENT VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
Logan is reviving our Moby Math Lab! The lab will take place during lunch recess on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. By having it during our lunch recess time, we can ensure that all students have the opportunity to participate. Participation in this program would provide students with an extra 1.5 hours of math each week to practice their basic facts. We are calling this lab the POWER HALF HOUR.
We are asking for 2 parent volunteers for each day (Mon,Wed, Fri) to help run our POWER HALF HOUR from 11:50-12:50. If you are available to help out, please let me know via email.
IN MATH THIS WEEK
We have begun Unit 6 in math, and the family letter was sent home this past week. We are focusing a lot on long division during this unit.
IN WRITING THIS WEEK
The students seem VERY excited to be starting the genre of feature articles. I have to admit that it is one of my favorite genres that we study. In a few months, our class will be putting on an all-school assembly, where students will share their feature articles. More information will be shared, as we get closer to the performance date.
Thing-A-Mabobbles are weekly math challenge problems that students may attempt from home or from school. They are always due on the Friday of the week that they are assigned. MOBY MAX
The current Moby Contest will continue through the break. The new contest includes Math, Grammar, and Reading, so students can earn points from any of those subjects.
