A NOTE FROM THE TEACHER
I hope that everyone enjoyed their Thanksgiving breaks with family and friends. Only three short
weeks until we will be having our winter break. On Monday, students should return their vacation
reading logs to school. There will be awards for the three readers with the most minutes logged.
The 60-minute Moby Max homework will be required for the week of December 2nd. I have been
very impressed with the students' names in the Top 5 changing from week to week. This contest
continues through December 19th.
I strongly encourage students to participate in Science Olympiad this year. Student participation
forms will be sent home soon, so I hope that a good number of our students will take advantage of
this wonderful opportunity. GO TEAM LOGAN!!!
IN MATH THIS WEEK
Students took the Unit 4 Assessment before the break. I was excited to grade the tests over the
break because ALL students made significant progress from their pretests. This week, the pre and
post tests will be sent home to parents. Please review and sign the test and send it back to school
with your student. We will begin Unit 5 this week, which focuses on Big Numbers and Estimation.
Ms. Humes' birthday is Saturday, December 7th. We will be having a mini-celebration with her on
Friday afternoon. Also, Friday, December 20th will be Ms. Humes last day of student teaching with
us. It is going to be difficult to say good-bye because Ms. Humes has been so wonderful to work
with this semester. During our winter party, we will also be honoring Ms. Humes.
Any nut-free candy donations for our treasure basket would be much appreciated!!
