Originally from the San Francisco Bay Area, Dr. Brown graduated from
Los Altos High School in 1970. His undergraduate studies began at
Foothill Community College, continued at Texas A&M University and
concluded with a Bachelor of Science degree from Lewis and Clark
College in Portland, Oregon. Along the way, Dr. Brown studied in
Sweden at the University of Lund and University of Upsalla. Upon
graduation, Dr. Brown began his teaching career at David Douglas H.S.
in Portland, Oregon. In 1977, with an opportunity to study under the highly
acclaimed Swimming Coach and Physiologist Dr. James E. (Doc)
Counsilman at Indiana University, Dr. Brown moved to Indiana and
earned both a Masters degree and Ph.D. in Human Performance (Work
Physiology/Endocrinology). Dr. Brown taught two years at John Carroll
University and then, missing teaching at the High School level, started
teaching at Ludington High School in Ludington, MI and continues to teach
there. Dr. Brown is married to Janet Brown (Music Teacher) and has three
daughters... Bekah (Kitterman), Rachel and Sarah. Charcoal and Tasha
the dogs round out the family.
