5th Grade Newsletter

Greetings!

This week the 5th grade team has just a few general announcements and reminders of important dates.

Just a reminder; if your child is Redlined more than three times in the fourth marking period, they will not be able to go on the end-of-the-year field trip to Kokomo’s. Also, students who have earned more than three referrals during the fourth marking period will not be able to attend the end-of-the-year trip.

IMPORTANT DATES TO REMEMBER:


May 28 – No School Memorial Day
May 30 - Talent Show (tentative date)
June 5 - 5th Grade Awards Ceremony
June 6 – Kokomo’s Trip
June 11 & 12 Half Days of School

 
               
           

Math
Mr. Vandervelde  

This week we will be working with a coordinate graphing system.  We will be plotting points and writing points as ordered pairs.

Science
Mrs. Rycenga-Guernsey

For the rest of the week students will continue their heredity and the evolution of traits in plants and animals.

Social Studies
Mrs. Mayle

 
This week students will be learning about the First Continental Congress.  The students are continuing the march to the revolution.

Language Arts
Mrs. Wilson

 This week we are finishing our study of the book Babe.  We are moving into a study of surrealism.  We will be looking at artwork by Salvador Dali and Rene Magritte.

English

This week we will be finishing our pronoun unit.  Next up is working with adverbs.

Spelling
