7th Grade Procedures

ABSENCES & HOMEWORK REQUESTS:
If your child has his book(s) home from previous homework, checking the homework page during
his absence will give him a headstart on completing absent work.
*  Please request homework in the morning when calling in an illness.  Your child may ask the teachers
    for homework
in advance if he/she is aware of an upcoming absence.
*  Please do not duplicate a homework request if your child can ask for homework. We
encourage Jr. High students to be responsible for asking their teachers for upcoming/missed work.
Students can write directly in their planners, eliminating the need for an office-generated form.
*******************************************************************************************
READING REQUIREMENT:
*  Silent reading books are MANDATORY in Jr. High at all times. Please encourage your child to read,
read, read. (Magazines are not considered appropriate silent reading material for school.)
*******************************************************************************************
MEETING WITH THE TEACHERS:
*  Thank you for calling the office, writing a note, or sending an email if you wish to set up a
conference with the 7th grade teachers.
Meeting times can be scheduled most mornings at
8:30 and some afternoons at 4:00.

********************************************************************************************
ASSIGNMENTS:
*  Student planners should be completed each day. Daily work and assignments should
be recorded at the end of each class.
*  Upcoming tests and quizzes are usually announced a week or more in advance and
    should also be recorded regularly.

********************************************************************************************
INDIVIDUALIZED PROGRESS:
*  Seventh grade teachers use the planner as an effective form of
communication from school to home and back.
*  Besides this website's HOMEWORK icon, parents may request to be further
informed of their child's progress through the planner. Due to time
constraints and varying schedules, seventh grade teachers do not feel
that WEEKLY progress reports are as effective as DAILY progress
   reports.
Seventh grade teachers will be happy to initial your child's completed
planner at the end of each class. We will verify missing and/or turned
in assignments in this manner. We request that the parent initial the
planner each night to complete the circle of communication.
*  Please let us know in writing if you request daily progress reports.

*********************************************************************************************
JUG (Detention)
*   Jr. High students are aware of dress code and conduct requirments.
*   JUG forms will be issued after one warning for minor violations or immediately for serious violations.
*   JUG forms are required to be signed by a parent/guardian and returned the following day.
*   JUGs will be served Thursday afternooons from 3:50 - 4:30.
*   Parents/guardians may call to reschedule a JUG only once.
*   Students who fail to report on the assigned day, must stay until 5:00 P.M. on the following Thursday.
*   Please check the handbook for more information about JUG.
