Social Studies Test

The Ch 2 Social Studies test is scheduled for November 10th. The test
will take the same format as the last test. The first ten multiple choice
questions will come directly from the notes on the foldable. The next five
questions will pertain to elevation and profile maps. The test will also
include two short answer essay questions. The question are as follows:

1. Describe how a vacation trip to the Upper Peninsula would be different
from a vactation trip to the Lower Peninsula.

2. How has the geography of the Upper Peninsula and the Lower Peninsula
affected the size of the population living in each region?

Please remind your student that the question should be restated in the
answer. Also answers should be in complete sentences with proper
capitalization, punctuation, and grammar.

Weekly Newsletter

In an attempt to set a good example, our class will be going "green"
with the classroom newsletter. The Walter Weekly is posted on Thursday
afternoon to the Newsletter link on the website. Unfortunately the website
software has changed from last year, thus making the newsletter a bit
difficult to read. If you would continue to receive a paper copy of the
newsletter please let me know. I will be more than happy to send home a copy
in the Thursday folder.

PowerSchool

PowerSchool is up and running. If you have not had a chance to take a
look at it please do so. I think many parents have found it to be a very
helpful way to keep a loving and supportive eye on their students’ progress.
PowerSchool has eliminated the need for interim reports. If for some
reason you do not have access to PowerSchool please contact me for an update
of your student’s progress.
Finally, please note that at this time a missing assignments is noted by
a “dashed” line. A dashed line does not effect the student’s grade. I will
be change all “dashed” lines to a zeros towards the end of the quarter A
zero will effect the student’s grade.

Allergies

During this school year, our classroom will be a nut-alert zone. A
nut-alert room is one that does not allow nuts of any kind into the classroom.
I ask that all students refrain from bringing any snacks that are made with
any type of nuts, including but not limited to nut snacks and/or any type of
nut butters into the classroom. I am also asking if possible when sending in
birthday/party snacks that parents include a list of ingredients. Thanks in
advance for your cooperation.
