I am a Central Michigan University graduate (Fire up, Chips!) where I earned
my bachelor's degree in Education as well as one in Social Sciences. My
minor was Language Arts. I later got my master's degree from Marygrove
College. In January of 2010, I took Spanish at Baker College and enjoyed it
immensely; it is something I hope to pursue further in the future. The first
nine years of my teaching career, I was blessed to teach 5th and 6th grade for
Carman-Ainsworth Community Schools in Flint. In 2008 I was honored to join the
staff of St. Paul School. The move to SPS within my church community and
where my children go to school (or will in the future) has proven to be an
answer to prayer, and I am truly thrilled to get another year underway!
When I am not at school I enjoy being home with my family. My husband,
Brent, and I have five children--Madeleine is in fifth grade at St. Paul,
Katharine is now in second grade here as well, and our twins, Evelyn and
Benjamin, are in first grade. Last summer our family was blessed again when
Franklin John was born. Frankie is already a year old and toddling around; we
all enjoy him so much!
Please keep our class and St. Paul School in your prayers as we start this
new year!
God bless,
Mrs. Smith
My philosophy on Catholic education is based on my belief that with God in
our lives, all things are possible. As a teacher in a Catholic school, it
is my job to create an environment in which all children are challenged and
guided to meet the potential God has given them. This means providing a
Christ-centered classroom built on mutual respect, open communication and
common goals. And with God's help, I will instill in my students, a
lifelong love for learning.
