INTRODUCTION: Math has been our curriculum focus during this past school year, and we are very proud of the academic gains that our students have made. To prevent the loss of those skills, our summer program this  year will focus  on math.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE: Students should spend 10 minutes every day using math in some way. To meet their summer goal, students should spend a total of 645 minutes on math activities. (This goal allows for some math-free days, since it is summer!) All minutes need to be written on the log sheet and totaled on the last page. Many types of activities qualify for earning math minutes. Several ideas are listed below.  Setting a timer will make it easy to keep time on activities like flashcards. If the activity uses math skills for only part of the total activity time, please estimate the amount of time really spent doing math. For example, if you spend two hours playing Monopoly, figure that you spent maybe 10-15 minutes actually counting out money from the bank.
IN THE FALL: Students will celebrate the end of our Summer Math program with a Math-A-Thon in the early fall. Also, students who meet their Summer Math goal will receive jean day passes to be used throughout the 2013-2014 school year.
