  2009-2010 St. Pius X School Yearly Calendar
The Mission of St. Pius X is to provide a welcoming, happy, Catholic, family 
environment for learning.

August 31:	Mass at 8:30, Prayer retreat and teacher meeting. Luncheon
                followed by Professional Development

September 3:	Opening Business Day – Orientation. Mandatory come in/pay
                dues. NOT a school day.
September 8:	School starts. Full day/full dress code. Kindergarten
                transition dismiss at 11:00.Back to school Parent Meeting at
                7:00 in then parents visit classes.
September 9:	Kindergarten transition dismissal at 11:00.
September 10:	Kindergarten transition dismissal at 11:00.
September 11:	Patriot Day. Kindergarten begins full day.
September 14:	Home School Council Meeting 6:00 PM in the library
September 17:	Home School Council welcome back pizza party at 6:00 
September 17:	Constitution Day- Prayer around flagpole
September 23:	Student Picture Day
September 25:	Reading Celebration… if summer reading goal is reached

October 9:	Midterms
October 5:	Home School Council Meeting 6:00 PM in the library
October 18-24:	Safe Schools Week
October 24:	Fall harvest Trunk-or-Treat sponsored by the Home School
                Council
October 25:	All Saints Parade @ 11:30 Mass after communion
October 26-31:	Red Ribbon Week, Drug awareness
October 28:	All Saints Day celebrated at Mass
October 28:	Home School Council sponsored Halloween party
October 29:	NO SCHOOL- Teacher Professional Development
October 30:	NO SCHOOL- Teacher Professional Development

November 1:	First Reconciliation Rite at 11:30 Mass, Reconciliation
                retreat following Mass. All Saints Day. Youth Ministry
                Jamboree.
November 2:	Home School Council Meeting 6:00 PM in the library
November 6:	End of the 1st quarter & report cards (one week later)
November 10:	College Night Sponsored by the Home School Council
November 19:	Parent/Teacher Conferences, ½ day of class, dismissal at 11:30
November 20:	No classes
November 25:	½ day, Thanksgiving vacation begins, dismissal at 11:30
November 26-27:	No classes

December 5: 	Breakfast with Santa sponsored by the Home School Council
December 7:	Home School Council Meeting 6:00 PM in the library
December 11:	Midterms
December 12:	Barnes and Noble’s St. Pius X Book Fair and Community School
                Fund Raiser
December 12:	A Night in Bethlehem after 4:30 Mass in the community room
December 12	Sacrament of Reconciliation at 2:00
December 13:	Christmas Cantata- Family Christmas Caroling @ 6:30 in Church
December 15:	Christmas Music Program at 1:00 and 7:00
December 18:	School Family Day, HALF day of school. Christmas vacation
                begins after school
December 21:	No school, Christmas vacation from December 21 to January 3

January 4:	Classes resume
January 4:	Home School Council Meeting 6:00 PM in the library
January 12:	Home school council sponsored Math & Science Night
January 18:	Martin Luther King Day, no classes
January 22:	End of the 2nd quarter & report cards (one week later)
January 23:	Mass to honor military men and women
January 26:	Powers Catholic High School all School Mass
January 27:	Friendship Games at Powers Catholic High School

January 31:	Catholic Schools Week celebration @ 11:30 Mass. This is a
                children's mass and kids should wear their orange t-shirts

February 1-5:   Catholic Schools Week 2010 Celebration at St. Pius X School
February 1:	8th grade Mass at the Cathedral in Lansing
February 1:	Home School Council Meeting 6:00 PM in the library
February 2	Ground Hog Day
February 5:	Home School Council sponsored teacher appreciation day,
                parent subs for teachers are needed!
February 7:	First Eucharistic Rite at 11:30 Mass
February 7:	Youth Ministry Super Bowl of Caring
February 10:	Home School Sponsored: Get Movin’/Crim night
February 11:	Valentines Day party/dance during the school day
February 12-15:	No classes, President’s Weekend
February 17:	Ash Wednesday
February 25:	Midterms. Parent/Teacher Conferences. ½ day of class,
February 26:	No School	
February 27-28:	St. Pius X Science Fair after Masses, Mass with the Children
                at 11:30, St. Pius X Science Fair after Masses

March 1:	Home School Council Meeting 6:00 PM in the library
March 5:	Family Stations of the Cross at 7:00 p.m.
March 6:	ST.PIUS X SCHOOL AUCTION
March 13:	Middle School Youth Rally
March 19:	St. Francis Stations of the Cross w/Mr. Kaplan at 7:00 p.m.
March 21:	Eucharistic Retreat at 10:00. First Eucharistic Rite at 11:30.
March 26:	Parish Choir’s Lenten Spring Cantata

April 1:	End of the 3rd quarter & report cards go home on 4/12/09
April 2:	Good Friday. No school.
April 5-9:	Easter vacation, No classes
April 12:	Home School Council Meeting 6:00 PM in the library
April 27:	First Communion pictures taken individually at 6:00, group
                photo at 6:45

May 1:	        First Communion practice at 2:00
May 2:	        First Communion at 11:30 Mass (meet in library at 11:00)
May 3:	        Home School Council Meeting 6:00 PM in the library
May 4:	        May The 4th Be With You. (Star Wars Day)
May 6:	        National Day of Prayer, prayer around flagpole after mass
May 7:	        May Crowning, ½ day, Mass at 10:00 and dismissal at 11:30.
                Midterms
May 24:	        End of the Year Pizza Party sponsored by the Home School
                Council & HSC election @ 6:00
May 31:	        Memorial Day, no classes

June 3:	        Holy Redeemer Festival (tentative)
June 4:	        8th grade final day
June 7:	        Home School Council Meeting 6:00 PM in the library
June 7:	        Field Day sponsored by the Home School Council
June 8:	        Cedar Point tip for 8th grade
June 9:	        8th Grade Graduation, Kindergarten Graduation
June 10:	Last Mass and last day, ½ day, awards at 10:30 for
                grades 4-7, report cards 11:25 followed by dismissal.
