Stockbridge Elementary Art Program Overview
Stockbridge Elementary School's art combines core curriculum objectives with
a discipline-based art program. Our art program is based on the US National
Visual Content Standards and Michigan's Visual Content and Standards for Fine
Arts. Students in grades K through five are provided instruction in a
graduated format, building upon basic skills to more complex ideas. Each
month projects are based on school themes and art benchmarks, and core
curriculum objectives are connected to the theme. Students are introduced to
units in art history, cultural folk art, drawing, painting, printing,
weaving, ceramics and sculpture. In April or May each school has a music
and art show featuring artwork from all students.
